SCHOOL OFFICE HOURS
The school office is in operation from Monday to Friday between 8:15am to 4:15pm. Please ensure that all payments and enquiries are made during these times.

RESPECTFULNESS
At our school we would like the students to show respect to all adults at the school. This includes teachers, secretary, librarian, bus drivers, volunteers (parents or others). One way we do this is to use the person’s title and surname. e.g. Dr Coulson, Miss Lee, Mrs Wright and Mr Weslake, etc. We would appreciate your help in this. When speaking about staff with your children please refer to them the way your child is expected to address them.

UNIFORM SHOP
The College Uniform Shop is outsourced to Alinta Apparel. The Kellyville Campus is the sole operating uniform shop enabling families to access all uniforms in the one location. We will continue to shuttle online orders to Castle Hill where requested.
Their opening hours are available on the College website at this link.  Click Here long.jpg Parents can contact the Uniform Shop on 0412 297 394 or email hillsadventist@alinta.com.au with any queries. We encourage parents to log onto www.alintaapparel.com.au to register to the Hills Adventist College online uniform shop to make an appointment to purchase their uniforms. All students should be in full school uniform every day, except for their designated sports day when they should dress in full sports uniform. This includes the correct shoes, hair accessories (correct colour) and Hills Adventist College school bags. Please refer to the website and our fortnightly College Newsletter and /or Junior School announcements for Uniform Shop updates.

BANKING
Banking through the Commonwealth Bank is available at Junior School for children attending our Early Learning Centre and students in Kindergarten-Year 4. New accounts can be opened at your local Commonwealth Bank Branch. Please request to open a "Youthsaver" account. Please send a completed deposit form and money to school on the designated banking day. It will be placed in a banking bag in your child's classroom and returned after the banking has been completed. For further queries please contact Michelle Cicurel (Student Banking Co-ordinator) on: 0412 415770 or m.cicurel@yahoo.com.au.

DISCIPLINE POLICY
We have a discipline policy at the school, which is enforced by every teacher. If you do not have a copy of this policy and how it works, please collect one from College Reception today so that both you and your child will know what is expected.

CANTEEN
The canteen opens for lunch Monday - Friday each week. Your child's order can be completed online through our automated online ordering system, either via our App or Website. Alternatively, the order can be written on a brown paper bag with money included inside. Please make sure that your child's name, class and CLASS TEACHER are clearly printed on the bag.

SCHOOL CALENDAR
Our College calendar can be found on our website.  You can view it here.  Click Here long.jpgOur College App also has events at least one month in advance which can be save directly into your own electronic calendar from the App. As you can appreciate changes can occur or extra events added. You will be notified of any changes via App, email or the College Newsletter.

NEWSLETTER
This year the College will have an E-Newsletter. The College E-Newsletter is produced each fortnight on a THURSDAY. You will find information regarding upcoming events and general information. The E-Newsletter will be available on our website and App. In addition to the Newsletter, Junior School admin will send out announcements to parents via email.

WORKING BEE CHARGE
A $100 working bee charge is levied to each family. This will be refunded only if you participate in one of the working bee’s held during the year.

ABSENTEEISM
If your child is absent for any reason or needs to leave school early on a specific day please ensure that you either complete the Absentee Form under Forms on our App or this link on our website at this link.  Click Here long.jpg Alternatively you can send an email to attendance@hills.adventist.edu.au by 9:15am on the day your child is absent. By law all absenteeism must be substantiated in writing and kept on the school records. If you plan to take your child out of school for an extended period of time (greater than one week), it is necessary to complete an Application for Exemption from Attendance at School form. This form can be found on our website at this link.  Click Here long.jpg Once the completed form is submitted and approved by the Principal, you will be issued with a Certificate for Exemption from Attendance at School under Section 25 of the Education Act 1990.

HOMEWORK BAGS / LIBRARY BAG
Each new child to the school receives one homework bag. This bag can carry on from year to year. If you wish to purchase a new bag for your child, you may purchase a bag from the uniform shop.

Please ensure you have purchased a library bag – students are not allowed to borrow books without one. These can also be purchased from the uniform shop.

BIBLES
All new students and students in Year 1 will be issued with an International Children’s Bible. The cost of the Bible is included in your child’s consumable fee. This Bible will be theirs to keep for the remainder of their school years.

SCHOOL BUS TRAVELLERS
If your child will not be travelling on the bus (for whatever reason) then the bus driver must be phoned before their collection time in the morning so they are not waiting at the bus stop for your child. An email or a phone call must also be made to reception before 2:15pm to ensure they are taken off the bus list for the afternoon run (this avoids staff trying to locate children who are absent). Please do not just tell your child not to catch the bus. Without a note children will be put on the bus. If an emergency arises please ensure the office is given enough time to pass on the message to your child and the bus duty teacher.

BUS FEES
An invoice will be sent home during each term. Bus fees will be added to your fee account. Please also note that there is no credit on bus fees for the term, this invoice must be paid within 14 days of receipt, unless you have already made arrangements for it to be incorporated into your direct debit payments.

Out of School Hours Care (OSHC)
OSHC is provided by a company called Mini Miracles here at Hills Adventist College – Castle Hill campus. For more information please refer to our website at this link  Click Here long.jpgPlease note there is an online application form available at the link provided. CAR PICK UP SIGNS
A sign will be issued to all new families commencing at the Castle Hill campus. Please display this sign on your front windscreen when collecting your child from the round-about area. If you have lost your sign please request a replacement sign from College Reception.

We hope this information sheet is helpful and look forward to seeing you at 8:50am on 30 January, 2017 for the commencement of the school term.

The Middle School years are a challenging time for tweens and they can also be a challenging time for their parents.  At Hills Adventist College we recognise the significant character development that takes place during this time and want to partner with you to ensure that your child is able to develop and mature in a safe and supportive environment where your child can reach their full potential.

There is a gradual shift from dependence to independence through the Middle School years and with this comes an increasing need for adults who will foster strong values and provide the necessary care and encouragement for children to feel that they are confident individual’s who are invested in their learning.

The first year of High School can feel overwhelming.  There is a big transition between Primary School and High School grades with students often feeling lost and confused about expectations and the new phenomenon of multiple teachers and classrooms.  Year 7 is part of the Middle School at Hills Adventist College.
