Nurture for Today

Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible--the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing community.  Hills Adventist College knows the importance of nurturing each member of the college community to create a positive experience in the lives of students every day.

Learning for Tomorrow

Learning is the consistent and deep engagement of the mind and body in the active pursuit of knowledge and experience.  Hills Adventist College believes in the importance of a student learning to learn, and becoming involved in lifelong learning.  Education is making a shift away from just focusing on the "delivery of knowledge" and moving towards a style of learning that encompasses the "development of knowledge and skills".   To prepare students for an unknown future, we must prepare them with skills and attitudes that help them embrace their tomorrow with confidence.

Character for Eternity

Hills Adventist College recognises the importance of the development of good character, not only as students face their present but as they look to their future.  Character development is not an alternative to academic attainment but as an essential adjunct of it.  Respect; excellence; compassion; integrity; purpose; responsibility; empathy; resilience and self-regulation are all important attributes that a strong partnership between home and school can teach and build in each of our students.

PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT

Our school believes and teaches that a loving God originally created us in His image. We have confidence that Jesus can restore all of us to wholeness through the gift of His life. As we put our faith in Him, the Holy Spirit comforts us with His peace and guides us to truth.

We believe that the Bible is our guide to understanding God. It presents true and eternal values on which our lives can be based. Christian education seeks to teach children to make intelligent and informed choices founded on these principles. They are thus helped to develop characters that are based on a love for God, unselfish concern for others and self respect.

We believe each child can have a fulfilling life now and have the hope of life eternal.

Therefore staff at Hills Adventist College seek to work with each child to enhance his/her spiritual, mental, physical and social development.

MISSION STATEMENT

Hills Adventist College aims to provide a balanced education, identifying and developing creativity, citizenship and academic excellence while complementing and extending the training provided by Christian homes and churches.
