The importance of developing positive skills and work habits
Hills Adventist College recognises the importance of developing study skills and work habits for students as they commence High School grades. We provide programs for every year level from Year 7 to Year 12 so we can equip them with a ‘toolbox of techniques’ as they head towards the HSC. We recognise how important it is for students to learn these study skills progressively from Year 7 to Year 12 in stage specific areas that act as building blocks for highly successful students.
Year 7 - Study Skills
Year 8 - Time management
Year 9 - Memory and Mnemonics
Year 10 - Study Sensei
Year 11 - Student motivation
Year 12 - Ace your exams
Parent Seminar - Reinforcing study skills at home
The Parent Seminar is open to all parents of Year 7 to Year 12 students, but we highly recommend parents who have children in Years 9-12 to attend as a priority. It is important for parents to be informed and work as partners in their child/ren's educational journey. Things have changed since most parents completed their education journey, and often parents can feel overwhelmed and unsure as they try to support their child at home.
As a College we are committed to working together with our students and their families to help them achieve excellence. We know this program promotes increased confidence and results in all of our students as these techniques are learned and applied. The partnership with Elevate allows us to introduce these concepts to students through workshops and presentations, students then have access to ongoing support through their teachers and the resources available on the Elevate website.
